Creuware Translate

Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 October 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between Creuware ("we", "us") and you ("you", "Customer") for your access to and use of Creuware Translate (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms.

1. The Service

Creuware Translate is an AI translation platform. You upload documents, web content, emails, subtitles and software resource files (such as JSON, PO, XLIFF or Android and Apple string files); the Service splits them into segments, translates them using AI language models and rebuilds translated files in the original format.

Depending on your plan, the Service may also offer batch translation, workspaces and team members, glossaries and dictionaries, placeholder protection, reverse translation, accuracy and error reporting, and a choice of AI models and languages. The features, languages, file formats and usage limits available to you are those of your current plan.

2. Accounts and workspaces

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract.
  • You are responsible for keeping your registration details accurate and your sign-in credentials secure.
  • A workspace owner is responsible for the members they invite and for all activity in their workspaces.
  • We may temporarily pause new registrations or sign-ins to protect the Service, for example during maintenance or a security incident.

3. AI translation and accuracy

  • Translations are produced automatically by AI models and may contain errors, omissions or wording that is unsuitable for your context.
  • Accuracy scores, error rates and reverse translations are automated estimates to help your review. They are not a guarantee of quality.
  • You are responsible for reviewing translations before you publish or rely on them, especially for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical or regulated content.
  • Exact glossary matches you define are applied as you entered them; you are responsible for the correctness of your glossaries and dictionaries.
  • Workspace, project and file descriptions you provide are sent to the AI model as context to improve translations.

4. Supported formats and preparation

The Service processes the file formats listed in the app for your plan. Some files must be converted first — for example PDF, Google Docs or Sheets, Outlook .msg, images, audio and video. Text must be extracted into a supported format before translation, and errors made during that extraction are outside our control. Any third-party tools we mention are suggestions only, not endorsements.

5. Plans, credit packs and fees

The Free Starter Plan has no plan fee and includes complimentary Translation Credits to try the Service, subject to the features, limits and credit validity shown in your account. This is a one-time starter allowance, not a recurring monthly allowance. No purchase is required to use the available complimentary credits, and using them does not create a paid subscription.

Professional currently operates on a pay-as-you-go basis. When a Free Starter account successfully completes a credit-pack purchase, it is automatically upgraded to Professional. There is no separate Professional activation fee or monthly subscription charge. Opening checkout, cancelling it or an unsuccessful payment does not upgrade your account. Your existing workspaces, projects, files and remaining eligible credits are preserved, subject to the retention and credit validity rules explained in our Refund & Subscription Terms.

Credit packs are one-time purchases of Translation Credits for translation usage. The number of credits, price, currency, applicable taxes and validity are shown with the offer or at checkout before you pay. Credits are not money, cannot be withdrawn as cash and do not automatically renew or replenish. Complimentary credits have no cash refund value, without affecting your statutory rights.

We may offer monthly subscriptions for other plans and/or add-ons in the future. Any such offer will state its charges, billing period, included benefits, renewal and cancellation terms before you expressly agree to it. Buying a credit pack does not enrol you in a future subscription. Enterprise or other tailored arrangements may be governed by a separate written agreement, which prevails where it conflicts with these Terms, subject to mandatory law. Our Refund & Subscription Terms form part of these Terms.

6. Service usage and limits

Plan limits and credit balances are separate. Your plan determines available features, languages, AI models, file formats and limits on workspaces, projects, files, batches and file size. Having credits does not override those limits. Professional increases the available limits and capabilities compared with Free Starter, as shown in your account, subject to fair use and the technical limits of the Service and AI providers.

Translation usage is charged against the relevant user's credit balance at the rate shown in the Service; the current rate is one Translation Credit per word processed by AI for translation. Reverse translation, when selected, also consumes credits for the words processed in that step, and each target language contributes its own usage. Project runs use the workspace owner's credits; One-off translations use the signed-in user's credits. Credits with the earliest expiry are used first. If there are insufficient valid credits, new translations may be prevented until you purchase a pack. Reaching zero credits does not itself cancel or downgrade Professional.

Fair use limits support stable, secure and reliable operation and prevent excessive resource consumption or attempts to bypass restrictions, including obtaining repeated starter allowances through multiple accounts. We may adjust limits to maintain performance, security and fair access, subject to the notice and consumer protections in these Terms.

7. Your content and translated files

  • You keep all rights in the files, text, glossaries and other content you upload ("Customer Content").
  • As between you and us, you own the translated files produced from your Customer Content and may use them for any lawful purpose, including commercially.
  • You confirm that you have the right to upload and translate your Customer Content.
  • You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transmit Customer Content — including to AI model providers — solely to operate, secure and support the Service.
  • We do not use your Customer Content to train AI models.
  • The Service, its software, prompts and design remain our property and are licensed, not sold, to you.

8. File storage and retention

Uploaded and translated files are stored privately for the retention period of your plan, after which the stored files may be deleted automatically while project records and translated text segments remain available in your account. Download any files you need to keep. Permanently deleting a record from the trash also deletes its stored files.

One-off translations are different: the snippet text, uploaded file and translated output are processed to return the result but are not retained in your projects or file storage. Usage and credit records are retained without that content. Copy or download the result before leaving the dialog. Buying credits or upgrading does not restore files whose retention period has already expired.

9. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service unlawfully or to infringe the rights of others, including copyright;
  • upload malware, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful or that you have no right to process;
  • attempt to access accounts, workspaces, data or systems you are not authorised to access;
  • circumvent plan limits, place unreasonable load on the Service, or use automated access other than features we provide;
  • reverse engineer, resell or sublicense the Service except as permitted by law.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. AI model providers may change or withdraw models; we may replace a model with a comparable one. We may update features, supported formats and languages over time.

11. Suspension and termination

You may request account closure at any time. There is no current Professional subscription to cancel; you may simply stop buying credit packs. Closure and any refund request are separate, and refunds are governed by our Refund & Subscription Terms and your statutory rights. We may suspend or end access if you materially breach these Terms, a payment is fraudulent or reversed, or where required by law, giving notice where reasonably practicable. An unsuccessful new pack payment does not by itself downgrade your existing plan or remove your existing credits. After termination we may delete Customer Content after a reasonable period, so export anything you need beforehand.

12. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including your statutory rights as a consumer under UK or EU law.

Subject to that, the Service is provided "as is". We are not liable for losses arising from inaccurate translations that you did not review, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Data protection

We handle personal data under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and our Privacy Policy. Where your Customer Content contains personal data, you are the controller and we act as your processor; data processing terms are available on request.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will give customers with unexpired purchased credits, and subscribers to any future subscription, at least 30 days' notice of material changes by email or in the app, except where an earlier change is required by law or urgently needed for security. Changes will not retroactively reduce the credit quantity or shorten the validity agreed for an existing purchase. If a material change adversely affects your ability to use prepaid services and you do not accept it, contact us about ending the affected arrangement and an appropriate refund of unused purchased credits or any unused prepaid subscription period, as applicable and subject to your statutory rights. No change to these Terms alone authorises recurring payments.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, whose courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in the EU or EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring proceedings there.
